Pickled Gherkins – FAQs

What is the difference between the two styles? For the Oak Smoked version the Gherkins are smoked for 5-6 hours in a cold smoker using oak wood dust. This imparts a subtle smoky flavour to the pickles.

How sweet is it? A difficult question as pickle recipes vary greatly as to how sweet or sharp they are. Everyone may have a different opinion but we describe this as a “traditional” pickle with a stronger vinegar kick than some of the more modern sweeter more sugary pickles. Each batch uses 700ml of White Vinegar for each 100g sugar.


How & How Long can I store it? The Jam can be stored in the cupboard until the best Before date. Once opened it should be kept in the fridge and used within 6 weeks for the best flavour.
Is it Vegan? All the ingredients are vegan (even the wax discs, if used, are not made from beeswax). However, it is not certified vegan as the pickles are hand-made in a multi-use kitchen and, whilst care is taken to minimise the risk of cross contamination, they may contain traces of other ingredients.


Is it Organic? No. The ingredients are not certified organic.

Are there any flavourings, preservatives or other additives? No. Vinegar and Sugar are the natural preservatives. There are no added flavourings, preservatives or anything else.
